Risk Test for Type 2 Diabetes
For each question answer Yes or No.
- 1. Are you over 35 years old?
- 2. Are you overweight or obese? i.e., waist measurement is more than half your height.
- 3. Do you have a relative with Diabetes?
- 4. Do you wake up at night to relieve your bowels more than 3 times a night?
- 5. Do you feel generally tired, even with very little physical work?
- 6. Have you lost/ gained weight with no possible explanation?
- 7. Have you been treated for Malaria or Typhoid with no good results?
- 8. Do you suffer any visual problems?
- 9. Do you get hungry more often?
- 10. Do you get thirsty more often, and have to take a lot of water?
- 11. Do you suffer any skin infections?
- 12. Do you have any unhealing wounds?
- 13. Do you get frequent boils?
- 14. Do you suffer fungal infections between the toes?
- 15. Are you hypertensive?
- 16. Were your children big at birth?
- 17. Do you suffer frequent urinary tract infections and vaginal itchiness?
- 18. Have you lost sexual interest and have a lack of libido?
- 19. Do you suffer a thyroid problem?
- 20. Do you smoke or take alcohol?
- 21. Do you take herbal products?
- 22. Do you undertake any long term medication?
- 23. Do you get a pins and needles feeling in the hands or feet?
- 24. Do you have any degree of stress?
- 25. Do you have any dental problems?
- 26. Do you get easily irritated?
- 27. Do you suffer nightmares or cry out during sleep?
- 28. Do you have poor memory and loss of coordination?
- 29. Do you get frequent headaches?
- 30. Do you suffer reduced vaginal lubrication?
- 31. Do you suffer frequent miscarriages/ still births?
If you answer Yes to less than 10 questions, you need an annual check-up.
If you answer Yes to more than 10 but less than 15 questions, you should screen for Diabetes twice a year.
If you answer Yes to more than 15 but less than 20 questions, you should screen for Diabetes after every 3 months.
If you answer Yes to more than 20 questions, you should have a monthly check-up on diabetes, starting NOW
